Long ago I had a background in electronic design & construction which morphed into microprocessors software. One of my college options was "Transducers" defined as "devices that converts variations in a physical quantity, such as pressure or brightness, into an electrical signal, or vice versa", including: piezo electric, guitar pickups, microphones, loudspeakers
I recently had started to make musical instruments as a hobby and was dismayed at the nonsense talked about pickups, preamps and the like. The writers and YouTubers are very well intentioned musician & arty types who are really just passing on their experience and anecdotal tips, many of which contradict eact other.
I started this blog to 'cut through' the mist, pass on some solid physics and theory based tips that WILL work for everyone, and any circuitry that I design, or otherwise come across.
